Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs Minister Stephen Asamoah Boateng (Asabee) has urged all members and supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to rally behind the party’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and his selected running mate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh.
Asabee made this call on Tuesday, July 9, ahead of the official unveiling of Dr. Opoku Prempeh as the running mate at the Jubilee Park in Kumasi. He emphasized the need for party unity and respect for the flagbearer’s decision, marking the beginning of a serious campaign season for the NPP.
The National Council of the NPP had unanimously endorsed Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh as the running mate at an emergency meeting in Accra on Thursday, July 4. President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo praised the partnership as excellent and expressed confidence in their ability to win the 2024 general elections.
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia thanked the National Council for their endorsement and presented Dr. Opoku Prempeh as a brilliant and astute leader. Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh assured the party faithful that he would help Dr. Bawumia prosecute a formidable 2024 campaign to break the 8-year election cycle.
He emphasized the need for collective effort and urged all members to join hands to achieve their ambitious goal of transforming Ghana into a prosperous nation.
