An Israeli air strike on a school in Gaza City has killed four people, including a senior Hamas official, Ehab Al-Ghussein, who was responsible for managing the Hamas government’s affairs in the area.
The Israeli army claims the strike targeted terrorists operating from the school building, and that measures were taken to minimize civilian harm.
However, eyewitnesses report that the attack hit two classrooms on the ground floor of the Holy Family School, where many people were seeking shelter.
Al-Ghussein’s death is seen as a significant blow to the Hamas administration, which has lost several officials in recent months.
Meanwhile, the Israeli military has issued another evacuation order for a central part of Gaza City, with dozens of families reportedly leaving their homes. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has stated that any ceasefire deal must allow Israel to resume fighting until its objectives are met, while Hamas officials await Israel’s response to the latest ceasefire proposals.
