Ghana Revenue Authority and Business & Financial Times Strengthen Collaboration

The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and Business & Financial Times (B&FT) recently met to discuss strengthening their working relationship and promoting tax education in Ghana.
Dr. Godwin Acquaye, CEO of B&FT, led his team in a courtesy call to the GRA. He acknowledged the critical role the GRA plays in Ghana’s development and encouraged them to intensify tax education initiatives. He commended their efforts in enforcing tax compliance and mobilizing revenue for national progress. He also congratulated Ms. Julie Essiam, the first woman to serve as Commissioner-General of the GRA.
Dr. Acquaye offered B&FT’s platforms to disseminate tax information to the public. Ms. Essiam expressed appreciation for this collaboration and pledged to further solidify the partnership between the two institutions.
The discussions highlighted the importance of tax education. Dr. Anim, B&FT’s Director of Operations, emphasized the need for clear, non-technical communication to ensure public understanding.
GRA representatives also acknowledged the need for tax education. Commissioner Edward Apenteng Gyamerah noted the current low tax compliance rate (below 30%) and stressed the importance of education in addressing this issue.
Other GRA officials, including Madam Pearl Nana Darko and Mr. Emmanuel Emmanuel G. Ohene, expressed their desire to share success stories with the public to enhance understanding of the GRA’s role. They requested B&FT’s assistance in achieving this goal.
This meeting marks a positive step towards improved collaboration between the B&FT and GRA. By working together, they aim to increase public tax awareness and promote a culture of tax compliance in Ghana.
