Kumawood actor Joseph Osei, popularly known as Wayoosi, has publicly revealed his reasons for leaving the New Patriotic Party (NPP), citing his unsatisfactory experiences with Energy Minister Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also known as NAPO.

In an interview with Zionfelix, Wayoosi detailed his significant contributions to NAPO’s successful campaign for the Manhyia South constituency MP seat, including proactively contacting delegates to secure votes. However, he felt unappreciated and disregarded by NAPO’s diminished interactions with him after the election.

Wayoosi stated, “I got to know NPP through NAPO, and he needed my assistance for his MP campaign. I reached out to delegates to persuade them to vote for us.” He added, “Since he was elected MP, our conversations haven’t lasted more than 30 seconds. I realised he no longer needed my help after achieving his goal, causing me to lose interest in the party.”

Wayoosi has now shifted his support to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama, amidst speculations about NAPO’s potential selection as the NPP’s running mate for the 2024 elections.
