The Occupant of the Golden Stool, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II will host President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at the Manhyia Palace next week.
The meeting will take place at the Afia Kobi Park.
Announcing the meeting scheduled for July 9, 2024, His Majesty urged traditional authorities to be present.
“The President will come here on Tuesday and I expect Nananom to be well represented to receive him,” he said at the meeting of the Asanteman Council at the Manhyia Palace on July 4, 2024, without relaying the purpose of the visit.
However, the date for the meeting with the King is the same day the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) will unveil Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, an Asante royal, to the nation as the Running Mate for the 2024 flagbearer.
Dr Opoku Prempeh, the incumbent Member of Parliament for Manhyia South Constituency and the Energy Minister was yesterday approved by the National Council of the party as the Running Mate.
The party said he meets all criteria and requirements for the position.
The meeting with the President may be used to officially inform His Majesty about the party’s choice.
