“NPP National Council Endorses Opoku Prempeh as Vice Presidential Candidate”

The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) National Council has given its stamp of approval to the decision by flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to choose Energy Minister Matthew Opoku Prempeh as his running mate for the upcoming elections.

The endorsement came on Thursday after a series of meetings with the National Executive Council and the National Steering Committee of the party. Opoku Prempeh, fondly referred to as NAPO, is also the Member of Parliament for Manhyia South and a former Education Minister. His selection as running mate is seen as a strategic move by Bawumia to consolidate support within the party and across the country, particularly in the Ashanti region.

The Ashanti region is a key constituency for the NPP, and NAPO’s inclusion on the ticket is expected to boost the party’s chances in the region. NAPO’s credentials and experience make him an attractive choice for the running mate position. As Energy Minister, he has been instrumental in shaping the country’s energy policy.

His tenure as Education Minister was marked by significant reforms, including the introduction of the Free SHS program. The endorsement by the National Council is a significant milestone in the party’s preparations for the upcoming elections.

The Bawumia-NAPO ticket is expected to be a formidable force in the elections, with many predicting a resounding victory for the NPP. The party’s decision has been welcomed by supporters and stakeholders, who see NAPO’s inclusion as a masterstroke by Bawumia to secure victory in the elections.
