NDC Official Claims Napo Unfit to Serve as Bawumia’s Running Mate
- Basintale questioned Napo's suitability
- Basintale criticized Napo's track record
- Basintale described NAPO as arrogant and confrontational
Malik Basintale, the Deputy Communications Officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has expressed strong reservations about Energy Minister Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also known as Napo, being selected as the running mate to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Dr. Bawumia recently announced his choice of running mate to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the majority caucus of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
During an interview on Wednesday, Basintale argued that Napo lacks the necessary qualifications for the position. He criticized the Energy Minister’s track record, labeling it as poor and highlighting concerns over his perceived arrogance.
“Napo is not a suitable candidate. He has a notorious track record, including his role in the return of power outages and the ongoing erratic electricity supply,” Basintale stated. “People are familiar with Napo’s demeanor—he’s known for his arrogance and confrontational nature, which are not qualities suited for the role of a running mate.”
Basintale further emphasized that Napo’s temperament and competencies do not align with the demands of the position, suggesting that his candidacy could be problematic for the NPP ticket.
