The road to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) is set, with the official draw complete. The tournament, originally planned for June/July 2025, will now be held in Morocco from December 21, 2025 to January 18, 2026, due to adjustments in the CAF calendar.
Ghana finds itself in Group F alongside Sudan, Angola, and Niger. The top two teams from each group after a round-robin format will qualify for the main competition.
A Familiar Face on the Pitch
Ghana’s biggest challenge might come from their Group F neighbor, Sudan. Led by former Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah, Sudan currently tops their 2026 World Cup qualifying group, even ahead of the reigning AFCON champions, Senegal.
Appiah boasts a decorated history, having won the AFCON as a player in 1982 and guiding Ghana to the Round of 16 (2019) and semifinals (2013) as coach.
Ghana previously defeated Angola on their way to the 2023 AFCON, where they were unfortunately eliminated during the group stage.
