The Greater Accra and Ashanti Regions are predicted to exceed 7.5 million people by 2050, while the Northern, North East, and Savannah Regions are expected to experience the highest growth rates, doubling their populations by 2050.

Government Statistician, Professor Samuel Kobina Annim, emphasized that these projections highlight the need to reassess discussions around retirement age.

“These projections underscore the need to revisit discussion around retirement age,” Professor Annim stated.

The report highlights the significance of population growth and its implications for national development, emphasizing the need for effective planning and policymaking to address the challenges and opportunities that come with a growing population.
