The Awutu Bereku District Police Command has apprehended a 25-year-old okada rider for allegedly kidnapping a 12-year-old schoolboy, Solomon Kwaku Wise, in Awutu Botoku.

According to Solomon’s mother, Cecelia Aquah, the incident occurred on Monday around 7:00 am while she was escorting her son to pick an okada to school. However, the suspect failed to drop Solomon at his school, and despite waiting for several hours, Solomon did not return home.

Aquah and Solomon’s teacher searched for him but to no avail, leading them to file a complaint with the police. With the aid of a CCTV camera installed by a Chinese company along the Awutu Bereku-Bontrase road, the okada rider was identified and taken into custody.
