Henry Nana Boakye, the National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has revealed that the selection of Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO) as the running mate of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia was based on his wealth of experience.

According to Nana Boakye, Dr. Bawumia’s decision was informed by his own experience as a running mate and Vice President, having served in those roles for over eight years. Nana Boakye explained that Dr. Bawumia’s experience dates back to 2008 when he was first chosen as a running mate, and subsequently in 2012, 2016, and 2020.

He emphasized that Dr. Bawumia’s selection of NAPO was not taken lightly, but rather after thorough consultations with President Nana Addo Dankwa and Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin. Nana Boakye praised Dr. Bawumia for his thoughtful approach, saying, “His Excellency the Vice President is making this decision with a huge wealth of experience.” He added that Dr. Bawumia’s experience as a running mate and Vice President has equipped him with the knowledge to make informed decisions about his running mate.

Nana Boakye expressed confidence in Dr. Bawumia’s choice, stating that NAPO’s experience and credentials make him an excellent partner for the upcoming elections. He also commended Dr. Bawumia for his transparency and willingness to engage with national executives, saying, “He’s made this decision based on his own experience, the consultation he’s done.”

Nana Boakye’s comments suggest that the NPP is united behind Dr. Bawumia’s choice of running mate and is confident in their ability to win the forthcoming elections.
