Meta, the parent company of Facebook, has introduced monetization opportunities for content creators in Nigeria and Ghana, starting July 1, 2024.

This move includes the launch of two new features: In-Stream Ads on Facebook and Facebook Ads on Reels, aimed at enabling creators to earn income from their original videos and community-building efforts on the platform.

Meta’s statement emphasized that eligible creators in Nigeria and Ghana can now generate revenue from their video and reel content, with support available in over 30 languages worldwide.

To qualify for these monetization tools, creators must meet specific criteria, including being at least 18 years old, adhering to Facebook’s Partner Monetization Policies and Content Monetization Policies, and having a minimum of 5,000 followers for in-stream ads.

Earlier announcements by Meta indicated plans for these features, following discussions in March involving Meta’s President of Global Affairs, Nick Clegg, and Nigerian President Tinubu at the presidential villa.
