UFC lightweight Michael Chandler has revealed a potential fight against champion Islam Makhachev in October, but his sights are set on a rescheduled bout with Conor McGregor in September.

The 38-year-old American was originally slated to fight McGregor at UFC 303 last week. However, the Irishman pulled out due to a broken toe, leaving the matchup canceled.

Chandler has publicly challenged McGregor to a rematch at the upcoming UFC event, Noche UFC, happening on September 14th at the Sphere in Las Vegas.

“Islam Makhachev was offered to me for October,” Chandler said on [platform where he made the statement], “but if Conor McGregor’s little pinky toe is healed by September, let’s do it at the Sphere! Biggest sporting event in history of sports!”

McGregor, a former champion in two weight divisions, previously expressed his intent to return soon after the injury. However, UFC president Dana White remains uncertain about the Irishman’s comeback timeline.

McGregor also revealed experiencing “deep mental pain” while watching UFC 303 unfold without him, which saw Alex Pereira defend his light-heavyweight title against Jiri Prochazka.

While Chandler prioritizes the McGregor rematch, he seems open to facing Makhachev later in the year, showcasing his adaptability and willingness to compete against top contenders.
