Newcastle United have secured the permanent transfer of defender Lewis Hall from Chelsea for a fee of £28 million, with an additional £7 million possible in add-ons.

The 19-year-old left-back impressed during his loan spell with the Magpies last season, making 22 appearances and scoring twice.

He expressed his delight at the permanent move, stating, “I’m extremely proud to continue my journey at Newcastle United.”

Hall, an England U21 international and a lifelong Newcastle fan, is particularly excited about playing in front of the club’s passionate supporters. He feels the experience gained last season, combined with the strong squad Newcastle has assembled, positions them for an even better season ahead.

“Lewis is a talented player with a great attitude,” said manager Eddie Howe. Howe is excited for Hall’s continued development as a Newcastle player.

In addition to Hall, Newcastle have also bolstered their goalkeeping options with the signing of 37-year-old John Ruddy on a one-year contract following his release from Birmingham City.

Ruddy expressed his enthusiasm about joining a “huge club” with a bright future.
