Fiifi Kwetey, the General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has stated that the party is not intimidated by the choice of Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, Energy Minister and Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, as the running mate to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer.
Fiifi Kwetey emphasized that Dr. Opoku Prempeh’s track record, particularly in addressing the power sector issues during his tenure as Energy Minister, does not inspire concern for the NDC heading into this year’s elections.
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia formally announced Dr. Opoku Prempeh as his running mate for the 2024 presidential election after discussions with President Akufo-Addo and the NPP Council of Elders.
This decision follows a survey conducted by the National Investigation Bureau, which indicated strong support for Dr. Opoku Prempeh among NPP delegates across various levels of the party.
