Henry Nana Boakye, the National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has raised doubts about John Dramani Mahama’s commitment to maintain the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy introduced by the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration.

Since its inception, the Free SHS programme has provided tuition-free education to Senior High School students nationwide.

Speaking in an interview, Nana Boakye, commonly known as ‘Nana B’, expressed skepticism regarding Mahama’s dedication to the Free SHS policy.

“Former President Mahama doesn’t approve of Free SHS, and it’s evident that if he returns to power, his administration would terminate it. The actions and conduct of the NDC clearly demonstrate their opposition to Free SHS.”

“If you observe them closely, whenever they have the chance, they never emphasize the positives. It’s always criticism,” he added.

Nana B highlighted concerns among NDC MPs regarding the pending Free SHS legislation and urged Ghanaians not to support Mr. Mahama in the 2024 general elections.

“When you listen to the NDC MPs, you can see they are nervous. We urge Ghanaians to understand that John Dramani Mahama would dismantle Free SHS if he returns. He has shown through his actions, words, and behavior that he opposes this policy.”

“Ghanaians should be well aware of John Dramani Mahama’s character; during his presidency, he opposed Free SHS and refused to allocate funds to it. Vote against him. We need a leader who will protect it; a party that is committed to preserving the Free SHS legacy,” he concluded.
