“I Offered to Act Efiewura for Free, No Payment for 13 Years” – Jimmy Quist

Veteran media personality and actor Jimmy Quist has disclosed that he received no payment for his iconic role in the popular Ghanaian TV series, Efiewura. Quist made this astonishing admission during an appearance on Channel One TV’s Upside Down show, co-hosted by Frema Adunyame and Nana Tuffour.

“I offered to be part of the series voluntarily,” Quist revealed. “I was actively involved in Efiewura for 13 years, from 2002 to 2014, without receiving any payment. They only paid the professionals, and those of us with cars were given fuel allowances.”

Quist’s motivation for participating in the series was his friendship with the producer, Okraku Mantey, and his desire to support the project. He utilized his platform, along with co-star Koofori, to promote Efiewura and contribute to its widespread popularity.

Efiewura, which aired from 2001 to 2014, was a beloved Akan-language sitcom that explored the dynamics between landlords and tenants. The show boasted a talented cast, including the late Santo, Araba Stamp, Gloria Sarfo, Auntie B, Kwame Dzokoto, Joojo Robertson, and Jimmy Quist.
