Solomon Amissah, a 37-year-old from Ghana, has been sentenced to 11 years and six months in prison by a UK court following a fatal drunk driving incident.

The tragic accident occurred in December 2022 in Bracknell, Berkshire, where Amissah, after attending a Christmas party, drove recklessly on the wrong side of the road.

His dangerous driving resulted in a collision that claimed the life of a mother in her 30s.

Amissah admitted guilt to charges of dangerous driving, driving over the alcohol limit, and driving without insurance.

The sentencing at Reading Crown Court highlighted the severity of his actions, which included driving intoxicated and distracted by a mobile phone.

Detective Constable Joy Jarvis of Thames Valley Police condemned Amissah’s behavior, emphasizing the recklessness and disregard for safety exhibited that night.

The court’s decision underscores the consequences of driving under the influence and serves as a reminder of the importance of road safety.

In addition to the prison term, Amissah has been banned from driving for eight years and will need to pass an extended re-test before he can regain his license.
