- Prof. Opoku-Agyemang defended former President Mahama against accusations
Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, the Running Mate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has reassured Ghanaians that the Free Senior High School (SHS) Policy will not be terminated under the next NDC administration.
Addressing NDC members and supporters in New Tafo Zongo as part of her tour of the Abuakwa North Constituency, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang debunked claims by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government that the NDC would cancel the policy initiated during the Mahama administration.
In a statement released by James Agyenim-Boateng, spokesman for the NDC Running Mate, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang affirmed the NDC’s commitment to enhancing the free education system.
She clarified that the NDC’s approach would focus on improving infrastructure, reducing overcrowding in schools, and ensuring adequate provision of learning materials and meals for students.
“They are spreading false information that Mahama will abolish Free SHS. This is untrue. Mahama is not someone who would do away with such a policy,” she asserted.
She emphasized that the next NDC government aims to build upon the foundation laid by the ‘progressively free’ education policy initiated under the previous administration.
