Joshua Pressures Fury For Fight, But Eyes Own Upcoming Match

Story Highlights

  • Joshua has a busy schedule
  • Joshua acknowledges the long wait

British boxing heavyweight Anthony Joshua (34) has challenged Tyson Fury (35) to a fight while both fighters are still in their prime.

However, Joshua also made it clear he won’t wait around for Fury’s availability.

Joshua has a busy schedule with his upcoming IBF world title fight against Daniel Dubois on September 21st at Wembley Stadium.

Meanwhile, Fury’s next fight is a rematch against Oleksandr Usyk in December. A win for both Joshua and Fury would pave the way for a highly anticipated “undisputed fight” between the two British giants.

“Let’s get this fight on now, while we’re both fresh,” Joshua said. He expressed frustration at the delays, questioning how many fights he needs to win before facing Fury.

This potential “super-fight” has been a topic of discussion for years, but negotiations haven’t yielded a confirmed date. Recent investments in boxing from Saudi Arabia have rekindled hope that the fight might finally happen.

Joshua acknowledges the long wait for the Fury fight, but emphasizes his own active schedule. “I can’t wait around until I’m old to fight Fury,” he told BBC Sport. “I have to keep fighting.”
