The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection in Ghana has announced a significant increase in cash grants for households enrolled in the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) program.

This move sees the government disbursing GHC 103,251,072.01 to support 324,073 beneficiary households.

Scheduled to commence on July 1, 2024, the 89th cycle payment for January and February 2024 reflects a doubled amount from previous disbursements.

This adjustment follows a 100% increase implemented in June 2023, demonstrating the government’s commitment to enhancing support for vulnerable communities and reducing poverty.

The ministry highlighted that the increased financial assistance aims to improve the living standards of Ghana’s most disadvantaged citizens.

They also acknowledged the ongoing support from partners such as the World Bank, World Food Programme, and Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office in sustaining the LEAP Programme.
