The Ghana Police Service has announced the tragic death of one of its officers, Constable Emmanuel Owusu, in a robbery incident in Kumasi, Ashanti Region. The incident occurred at Ahodwo, Nhyiaeso, a bustling commercial area, in the early hours of Thursday, June 27, around 1:00 am.

According to eyewitnesses, a group of armed robbers, estimated to be around five, attacked a fuel station and a nearby grocery store, shooting sporadically into the air. Constable Owusu, who was on patrol in the area, responded to the distress call and engaged the robbers, but unfortunately, he was shot and killed in the ensuing gun battle.

The Police have arrested one person, identified as 32-year-old Abdul Razak, a resident of Kumasi, in connection with the robbery and are currently conducting an intelligence operation to apprehend the remaining suspects. The arrested suspect is currently in Police custody, and investigations are ongoing to uncover the identities and whereabouts of the other suspects involved, as well as the masterminds behind the robbery.

The Police have assured the public that they are working tirelessly to ensure that all suspects are arrested and brought to justice, and that they will do everything possible to prevent such incidents in the future. The deceased officer’s family has been informed, and the Police have offered their condolences for their loss, promising to support them through this difficult time.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, with many residents expressing their condolences and outrage over the senseless killing of the Police officer.
