Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden is on paternity leave! He left England’s training camp in Germany to return home for the birth of his third child.
The English Football Association announced the news saying Foden had a pressing family matter. They expect him to be back with the team by Sunday’s crucial last-16 match.
Foden and his partner Rebecca Cooke announced they were expecting their third child on social media in April. The couple already have a five-year-old son Ronnie and a two-year-old daughter True.
Foden has been a key player for England this tournament, starting all three group stage matches including the recent draw with Slovenia.
England finished top of their group and will play their next match in Gelsenkirchen on Sunday. Their opponent will be determined after the final group matches are played on Wednesday.
