A jury in Victoria, Australia, has delivered a mixed verdict in the high-profile murder trial of Greg Lynn, a 57-year-old pilot.
Lynn was found guilty of murdering Carol Clay, 73, but acquitted of killing Russell Hill, 74. Both Ms. Clay and Mr. Hill were campers who went missing in the Wonnangatta Valley in March 2020.
While Lynn admitted to moving their bodies and destroying their campsite, he claimed the deaths were accidental during separate struggles. Prosecutors argued he intentionally killed Ms. Clay after Mr. Hill.
The case gripped the nation and sparked a massive search effort. Mr. Hill’s wife reported them missing after not receiving her husband’s usual nightly radio call.
The jury deliberated for six days before delivering the split verdict. Lynn faces a maximum life sentence and will be sentenced in July.
