Nacho Fernandez, a stalwart defender and captain for Real Madrid, has bid farewell to the club after an illustrious career.

The 34-year-old Spaniard is departing after amassing a staggering 26 trophies with Los Blancos.

Nacho’s journey with Real Madrid began at the tender age of 10 when he joined their youth academy.

He rose through the ranks and made his senior debut in 2012, going on to make a total of 364 appearances.

His final act on the field was a fitting one – a Champions League triumph against Borussia Dortmund earlier this month.

This victory cemented his place in Real Madrid history as one of only five players to have won six European Cups with the club.

Currently with the Spanish national team at Euro 2024, Nacho is expected to continue his playing career with Saudi Arabian club Al-Qadsiah.

“The decision has been a result of months of reflection and internal conflict,” Nacho confessed. “Ultimately, I believe it’s the right time to experience something new with my family.” He also boasts 26 caps for the Spanish national team.

Beyond the six Champions League titles, Nacho’s trophy cabinet with Real Madrid overflows with four La Liga titles, two Spanish Cups, five Club World Cups, four European Super Cups, and five Spanish Super Cups.

“Nacho arrived at our academy as a child and has grown into an exemplary figure,” said Real Madrid president Florentino Perez. “He has earned the affection, respect, and admiration of everyone at the club.”
