Nigerian Man Arrested for Allegedly Beating Son to Death and Burying him Secretly

The Nsawam Police Command has arrested a 40-year-old Nigerian man, Justice, also known as “Oga”, for allegedly murdering his son, Wisdom. The suspect, a hardware seller, resides with his family in Kyekyewere, near Asuboi, in the Ayensuano District of the Eastern Region.

According to reports, the suspect had a history of physically abusing his wife and children, but the community hesitated to intervene due to fear of his violent behavior. On Thursday, witnesses saw the suspect carrying his severely beaten son into a taxi, which led to the boy’s death at the Nsawam Government Hospital.

The motive behind the beating remains unclear, but it is believed that the boy’s disobedience may have triggered the fatal incident. Assembly Member George Oboubi became suspicious of the suspect’s inconsistent accounts of the child’s death and involved the police.

Investigations revealed that the suspect had buried his son without a coffin in a public cemetery, allegedly bribing cemetery workers to do so. The police exhumed the body and arrested the suspect, who is scheduled to appear in court on Monday. The suspect’s wife and two children have fled the area, and their whereabouts are currently unknown.

“I decided to follow up on the child’s condition, and Oga claimed the boy had died of malaria and was in the mortuary. He later changed his story, admitting that he had buried the child,” Assembly Member George Oboubi stated.
