The Coalition of NABCO Trainees has called on Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), to fulfill his promise to pay their outstanding arrears. During his campaign tour in the Volta Region on June 2, 2024, Dr. Bawumia pledged to settle the 9-month arrears owed to the trainees.
However, several weeks have passed since the promise was made, and the trainees are yet to receive their payments. The Coalition of NABCO Trainees expressed their disappointment and frustration over Dr. Bawumia’s silence on his promise in a statement released on Monday, June 24.
The group described Dr. Bawumia’s silence as a “slap in the face” to their dedication and hard work. The trainees urged Dr. Bawumia to honor his promise and release their outstanding arrears without further delay.
They emphasized that the delay in payment has left them in a “critically weakened condition” and demanded immediate action. The Coalition also reminded Dr. Bawumia that his promise was made in the presence of witnesses, and they expect him to fulfill it.
The trainees reiterated that they are not asking for favors but rather demanding what is rightfully owed to them. The group concluded by saying that it is time for action, not just words, and urged Dr. Bawumia to pay their outstanding arrears as promised.
