“I Only Denied Davido Access to My Body, Not Our Daughter” – Sophia Momodu
Sophia Momodu, the first baby mama of popular Nigerian singer Davido, has responded to the lawsuit filed by the singer at the Lagos State High Court over the custody of their 9-year-old daughter, Imade.
According to a statement released by her legal representatives, Punuka attorneys & Solicitors and Bimpe Ajegbomogun & Co., Momodu denied allegations made by Davido and revealed that she had been shouldering the expenses of their daughter alone for the past two years.
Momodu alleged that Davido had abandoned their daughter for over two years and had not seen her since July 2022. She also claimed that the singer had not fulfilled his financial responsibilities towards their daughter, leaving her school fees unpaid.
Davido had earlier alleged that Momodu rejected a N200 million apartment he purchased for their daughter’s care and demanded $800 monthly for a nanny. He also claimed that Momodu treated him with cruelty and caused him significant pain.
However, Momodu stated that she only denied being intimate with the music star and had been seeking a formal co-parenting arrangement with Davido for two years, but was met with refusal and attempts to discredit her.
The case is ongoing at the Lagos State High Court, with Momodu seeking a mutually agreeable resolution and a better life for their daughter, Imade.
