The Ghana Police Service has apprehended three suspects in connection with a robbery targeting students and lecturers of the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR).

The robbery occurred on the Odomase-Badu road in the Sunyani West Municipality on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at approximately 1900 hours, as the victims were returning from a field trip. According to a reliable police source at the Bono Regional Police Command, the arrests were made possible through police intelligence and swift action by highway patrol teams, who intervened during the robbery and arrested one suspect.

The subsequent investigation led to the arrest of two additional suspects in their hideouts, where several mobile phones and other valuables were retrieved. Sadly, a student identified as Abdul Aziz Issah lost his life during the attack, while six other students who sustained minor injuries have been treated and discharged.

The police are continuing to investigate the incident, and the suspects are currently in detention, facing possible charges related to robbery and murder. The police have assured the public that they are working to ensure the safety and security of all citizens, including students and lecturers of UENR.
