President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to strengthening its ties with South Africa. In a congratulatory message to South Africa’s reelected President, Cyril Ramaphosa, Akufo-Addo praised the “bond of friendship” between the two nations.

Akufo-Addo noted that the existing bilateral ties between Ghana and South Africa should be leveraged for mutual benefits. He expressed confidence that under Ramaphosa’s leadership, South Africa will continue to champion progress and prosperity on the African continent.

Akufo-Addo reiterated the need for close collaboration between the two nations to advance their collective interests and promote continental integration. He acknowledged Ramaphosa’s reelection as a vindication of the trust and confidence reposed in him by the South African Parliament and the African National Congress (ANC).

Ramaphosa was sworn in for a second term in office after his reelection by the South African Parliament, defeating Julius Malema of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF). The ANC, which has dominated South African politics for three decades, lost its majority in the recent national elections and proposed a government of national unity with other parties.

The congratulatory message reaffirmed the strong bond between Ghana and South Africa, committed to promoting mutual development and prosperity.
