Drake Becomes First Artist to Reach 100 Billion Streams on Spotify

Drake has made history by becoming the first artist to reach 100 billion streams on Spotify. The milestone was achieved on Tuesday, June 18, just two months after he was reported to be closing in on the mark at 97 billion streams. Chart Data and KWORB, which tracks streams and rankings across platforms, confirmed the news.

Meanwhile, Pharrell has seemingly taken a shot at Drake in his new track “Double Life,” featuring lyrics that fans believe are aimed at the 6 God. The song is set to be featured on the Despicable Me 4 Soundtrack, due out July 3. While some fans are convinced the lyrics are about Drake, others believe they are actually about the movie’s character Gru.

In other news, Drake is facing a lawsuit from fashion company Members Only, who claim he is infringing on their trademark by selling merchandise with the phrase “Members Only” stamped on it. The lawsuit was filed in New York federal court against Drake’s Away From Home Touring Inc. and argues that the use of the phrase, also the title of a song on his album For All The Dogs, is likely to cause confusion and dilute the brand’s mark.

As one fan noted, “The fact that ‘Members Only’ is a song on Drake’s album does not give him a license to use the mark in such a confusing manner, particularly on or in connection with apparel items.” Drake is not being accused of distributing counterfeit products.
