The Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Simon Osei-Mensah, has announced that between 6 to 7 Agenda 111 hospitals are set to be operational before the end of 2024.

Hon. Osei-Mensah revealed that the Ministry of Health has greenlit additional Agenda 111 hospital projects in the Ashanti Region, increasing the count from 16 to 19.

Speaking in an interview he highlighted specific initiatives such as the Psychiatric Hospital at Ejisu and the Accident and Trauma Hospital at Obuasi.

The minister expressed confidence that these efforts will significantly bolster healthcare capabilities in the Ashanti Region by the year’s close.

Acknowledging past challenges in healthcare infrastructure, Hon. Osei-Mensah emphasized the substantial progress made under the NPP administration, stressing ongoing efforts to enhance public awareness.

Background:

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo initiated the construction of Agenda 111 hospitals in August 2021, aiming to revolutionize Ghana’s healthcare sector with a US$100 million investment.

The ambitious project includes the establishment of district hospitals nationwide, with each hospital costing US$16.88 million and featuring comprehensive medical equipment.

These developments are expected to create jobs, stimulate economic growth, and position Ghana as a hub for medical excellence in West Africa.
