Steve Cooper Frontrunner For Leicester City Managerial Role

Story Highlights
  • Cooper emerges favorite to become Leicester City's new manager
  • He has impressed Leicester in their ongoing search
  • Leicester had unsuccessfully pursued Potter last April

Steve Cooper has emerged as the favorite to become Leicester City’s new manager, overtaking previous frontrunners Graham Potter and Carlos Corberan.

The 44-year-old Welshman has been without a club since his December 2023 dismissal from Nottingham Forest. Despite this, he has impressed Leicester in their ongoing search for a new leader following the departure of Enzo Maresca.

Earlier this week, Potter, who previously managed Chelsea and Brighton, seemed like the most likely candidate. However, the situation appears to have shifted in Cooper’s favor.

Leicester had unsuccessfully pursued Potter last April, just before their relegation from the Premier League.

At that time, having recently been sacked by Chelsea, Potter wasn’t ready for an immediate return to management.

The Foxes, who secured promotion back to the top flight last season, are set to begin their Premier League campaign against Tottenham Hotspur.

The official Premier League fixture list was recently released.
