An ad hoc committee established by Parliament Speaker Alban Bagbin has presented its findings to Parliament regarding a leaked audio discussing an alleged plot to oust Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare.

Chaired by Samuel Atta Akyea, MP for Abuakwa South, the committee was tasked with investigating the leaked audio involving senior police officers and former NPP Northern Regional Chairman Bugri Naabu. The conversation allegedly outlined plans to remove Dr. Dampare due to his perceived professionalism and resistance to compromise.

The committee’s report, presented on Tuesday, June 18, addresses the contents of the leaked tape and associated issues.

“The Clerk of Parliament announced the submission of the report from the Special Committee tasked with investigating the leaked audio tape involving high-ranking police officials and others allegedly conspiring to remove the current Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare,”
