Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has called upon Ghana’s youth to actively engage in the upcoming December elections, emphasizing their potential to drive significant national development.
Addressing attendees at the launch of the Kufuor Scholars Foundation, a voter mobilization initiative aimed at enhancing youth participation in the electoral process, Kufuor highlighted the pivotal role young citizens can play in shaping Ghana’s future.
Kufuor urged the youth to recognize themselves as pivotal decision-makers in the democratic process, stressing that their involvement is crucial for steering the country towards inclusive and effective governance.
Concerns over voter apathy and socio-economic challenges have underscored the importance of robust youth participation in the upcoming election. A recent survey by the Kufuor Scholars Foundation revealed that 43 percent of surveyed Ghanaians expressed intentions not to vote, highlighting the need for intensified civic education efforts.

Addressing the audience, former President Kufuor emphasized, “With over 70% of Ghana’s population being youth, your commitment to responsible citizenship and good leadership will be unstoppable.”
The event was attended by distinguished figures including Prof Agyemang Baffuor Duah, CEO of JAK Foundation; H.E. Harriet Thompson, British High Commissioner to Ghana; Dr Pascal Brenya, KSP Coordinator; Nana Ama Oppong Duah, Policy Advisor at the JAK Foundation; and Irene Horsham (Esq), Rector of Mountcrest University.
