Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has expressed his satisfaction with the eight-storey edifice of the Minerals Commission still under construction in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.
During a courtesy visit by Martin Ayisi, the Chief Executive Officer of the Minerals Commission led by the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Abu Jinapor, the King raised the topic of the building.
His Majesty says he has been catching glimpses of the building when returning from the golf course every morning.
The CEO informed him the building will be the headquarters of the Commission in the mining region and will be due for commissioning in the first week of October.
The building is one of many the Commission has set out to construct across the country since 2021 as part of efforts to decentralise its services and operations.
The huge edifice will have some of its offices rented out to generate revenue.
In May 2024 when the Minister for Lands went to inspect the building, he was told it was 71 per cent complete.
The courtesy visit by the Minister and some executives was on June 19, 2024.
Their conversation featured a proposal for a national dialogue on land administration in the country dubbed the “National Land Stakeholder Symposium” which received the full support of His Majesty.
