Asante Kotoko cuts ties with 7 more players, totaling 18 departures.

Asante Kotoko has announced the termination of contracts for seven additional players, bringing the total number of departures to 18. This move comes on the heels of Tuesday’s announcement that the club had parted ways with 11 players, including long-time captain and goalkeeper Ibrahim Danlad.

The seven players leaving the club are Samuel Asamoah, Nanabayin Amoah, Isahaku Fiseini, Rocky Dwamena, Richmond Opoku, Julius Ofori Ziggy, and Shadrack Addo. These players struggled throughout last season, failing to make a significant impact on the team’s performance.

Coach Prosper Ogum has decided to release these players as part of his efforts to make significant changes to the squad for the next season. Kotoko finished in sixth place after a challenging season, which included a seven-match winless streak.

The team’s poor performance led to a crucial meeting with club owner Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, which helped stabilize the team and resulted in key victories, including a 2-0 win against rivals Hearts of Oak. Despite this, the club ended the season without a trophy, prompting a major overhaul of the squad to improve performance in the upcoming season.

Asante Kotoko is expected to make several signings in the coming weeks, with early links to goalkeeper Benjamin Asare, who won the Golden Glove after keeping 17 clean sheets for Great Olympics. Asare’s impressive performance was not enough to save his club from relegation, and Kotoko is keen to snap him up to strengthen their goalkeeping position.

The departure of 18 players in total marks a significant shift in the team’s dynamics, and fans are eagerly awaiting the new signings that will shape the team’s future. Coach Prosper Ogum is determined to build a stronger, more competitive team, and this overhaul is seen as a crucial step towards achieving that goal.

Asante Kotoko’s next season is highly anticipated, and fans are hoping that the changes made will lead to a more successful and trophy-filled season.
