Minister for Food and Agriculture, Bryan Acheampong, has thrown down the gauntlet, challenging Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, to produce evidence to support his claims about Rock City Hotel’s financial status.
The confrontation stems from allegations made by Ablakwa that documents obtained from the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) indicate that Rock City Hotel Limited, a company owned by Acheampong, is operating at a loss and therefore unfit to purchase the lucrative SSNIT hotels.
Acheampong has vehemently denied these assertions, labeling them as baseless and without merit. In an interview on June 19, he stated, “I heard Okudzeto making allegations of intercepting some documents from GRA, but he has no such documents. There is nothing true in that statement; they are all lies.”
The Minister further explained that according to information from the hotel’s management, Rock City Hotel has yet to file its taxes for 2023, and therefore, not even the GRA is aware of the company’s financial status.
Acheampong questioned the authenticity of Ablakwa’s claims, asking, “Where did Okudzeto get the supposed documents he’s talking about from GRA, when the managers of Rock City haven’t filed them yet? Where did he get the said documents from?”
The Minister’s response comes after Ablakwa alleged that documents from the GRA showed Rock City Hotel was running at a loss, making it unfit to purchase the SSNIT hotels. Acheampong’s challenge to Ablakwa is seen as a bold move, daring the MP to substantiate his claims with concrete evidence.
The controversy has sparked a heated debate, with many calling for transparency in the financial dealings of Rock City Hotel.
As the saga unfolds, many are eagerly awaiting Ablakwa’s response to Acheampong’s dare, and whether he will produce the documents to support his claims. The outcome of this confrontation could have significant implications for the future of Rock City Hotel and the SSNIT hotels, as well as the reputations of the individuals involved.
