“Ken Agyapong Calls for Unity and Support for Bawumia’s Presidential Bid”

Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, the Member of Parliament for Assin Central, has made a conciliatory gesture towards his fellow New Patriotic Party (NPP) members, following a controversial campaign tour by Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia that exposed deep-seated divisions within the party.

Agyapong’s unannounced campaign activities in support of Dr. Bawumia’s presidential bid had sparked outrage among some party members, who felt sidelined and betrayed by his actions.

Addressing the concerns of his fellow party members, Agyapong expressed his regret for not keeping them informed about his campaign tour, acknowledging that his actions had caused unnecessary tension within the party.

“It didn’t go well with some of you, and I want to apologize for not informing you before I went on the campaign tour,” Agyapong said, displaying a rare show of contrition. Agyapong also reassured the party faithful that he remained committed to the NPP’s cause, dispelling rumors that he was contemplating resigning from the party or running as an independent candidate.

With the presidential primaries now behind them, Agyapong emphasized the importance of unity within the NPP, stressing that the party’s collective goals were more important than individual ambitions. “As long as I am a member of this party, irrespective of what happened in the presidential primaries, I believe it is best for all of us to come together and rally support behind the party,” he said.

In a gesture of reconciliation, Agyapong called on his supporters to use the occasion of his birthday as an opportunity to mend fences within the party and reach out to their counterparts who supported Dr. Bawumia.

He also extended an olive branch to the supporters of Dr. Bawumia, urging both factions to put aside their differences and come together in support of Dr. Bawumia’s leadership and the NPP’s collective goals.

By calling for unity and reconciliation, Agyapong has set a positive tone for the NPP’s future, demonstrating that the party’s interests can transcend individual ambitions and disagreements.
