Forest Guards Arrested After Shooting Chainsaw Operator in Nkrabea Forest Reserve

Four forest guards were apprehended by the Bidiem Police after allegedly shooting a chainsaw operator in the Nkrabea Forest Reserve.
The suspects, identified as Collins Mensah (27), Baba Anabilla (33), Joshua Amofa (28), and Christopher Fiatsi (24), were employed by Akaa Security Company to protect the Logs and Lumber Limited concession.
According to police reports, the guards shot the victim, known only as Akwasi, during a routine patrol. News of the incident sparked outrage in the nearby Kogyaeme village, with residents attempting to lynch the suspects who had sought refuge at the Odikro’s home.
Nana Kofi Adu, the Odikro of Kogyaeme village, alerted the police who arrived and arrested the suspects.
Authorities confiscated several items from the guards, including firearms, ammunition, and tools. However, the whereabouts of the victim remain unknown.
Hospitals within the Obuasi municipality have been searched, but neither the victim nor any record of his admission has been found.
