McGregor Out: UFC 303 Main Event Scrapped Due To Injury

Story Highlights
  • Disappointment for fight fans of Conor McGregor
  • The Irishman was due to face Michael Chandler
  • The UFC has quickly adjusted the fight card

Disappointment for fight fans as Conor McGregor’s highly anticipated return to the octagon has been cancelled.

The Irishman was due to face Michael Chandler at UFC 303 on June 29th, but an injury has forced him to pull out.

This marks the first time McGregor, a former two-division champion, has withdrawn from a UFC fight due to injury.

The welterweight bout was the main event for UFC 303, and its cancellation also affects the originally scheduled co-main event between Jamahal Hill and Carlos Ulberg (scrapped due to Hill’s knee injury).

However, the UFC has moved quickly to adjust the fight card. Here’s the new look:

  • New Main Event: Brazilian Light Heavyweight Champion Alex Pereira will defend his title against Czech Republic’s Jiri Prochazka.
  • New Co-Main Event: American Brian Ortega takes on Brazil’s Diego Lopes in a featherweight clash.

The highly anticipated welterweight bout between Irishman Ian Garry and Briton Michael Page remains on the card.

While McGregor’s absence is a blow, these new matchups promise an exciting fight night in Las Vegas.
