Ben Lord, who claims to be a chief, was arrested on May 3 after allegedly shooting the military officer at the Millennium City Police station, killing him instantly.
The military officer, whose name has not been disclosed, was on duty at the police station when the incident occurred. Eyewitnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots and seeing the officer fall to the ground.
Ben Lord was apprehended by police officers at the scene and taken into custody. He was subsequently arraigned on May 3 and has since been on remand at the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) cells. The police conducted a thorough investigation into the matter, gathering evidence and statements from witnesses. The docket was then forwarded to the Attorney General’s office for advice on May 17.
After reviewing the case, the Attorney General’s office provided its advice on May 25, instructing the police to charge Ben Lord with murder and conspiracy to commit a crime to wit murder. The charge sheet, signed by the Attorney General, states that Ben Lord “willfully and unlawfully caused the death of the military officer, contrary to section 46 of the Criminal and Other Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29)”.

The case has been adjourned to June 20, and the accused persons are expected to appear before the court on that day. The family of the deceased military officer is eagerly awaiting justice, and the case has sparked widespread outrage and calls for greater accountability in the handling of such cases.
The police have assured the public that they will continue to investigate the matter and ensure that justice is served. The case has also raised concerns about the safety of military officers and the need for greater security measures to protect them.
