Italian giants AC Milan have announced a change in leadership, appointing Paulo Fonseca as their new manager.

The 51-year-old Portuguese coach joins the club on a three-year contract, taking the reins until 2027.

Fonseca takes over from Stefano Pioli, who departed AC Milan by mutual agreement following their fourth-place finish in Serie A.

This appointment comes after Fonseca’s own stint at Lille ended similarly, with the team finishing fourth in Ligue 1 and narrowly missing out on a Champions League spot.

While at Lille, Fonseca also led the team to a Europa Conference League quarter-final, ultimately falling to Aston Villa on penalties.

Boasting a successful managerial career, Fonseca brings experience from managing top European clubs like Roma, Shakhtar Donetsk, and Porto.

Notably, he secured the Portuguese Super Cup with Porto in 2013 and achieved an impressive feat of three Ukrainian league and cup doubles during his time with Shakhtar Donetsk.
