Kumawood actor Joseph Osei, popularly known as Wayoosi, has joined the ongoing debate about the value of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees versus the benefits of acquiring a foreign passport.
The debate was sparked by Kofi Gabs, a Ghanaian living and working as a janitor in the Netherlands, who recently acquired his Dutch passport. Kofi Gabs, also known as Mr. Happiness, shared his experience of how his Dutch passport facilitated easy travel to the United States to visit a friend.
He argued that a Dutch passport is more beneficial than a PhD from Ghana, as it allows for easier travel processing, unlike a Ghanaian passport. Kofi Gabs’ remark sparked a debate, with some agreeing with his view and others disagreeing.
Wayoosi has now joined the conversation, stating that comparing a PhD to a foreign passport is unnecessary, as both serve distinct purposes. In a social media video, Wayoosi expressed his views candidly, saying, “Enough of this pointless debate, okay? How can you equate a foreign passport with a PhD?”
