Parliament Back To Address Key Government Business
- Parliament reconvenes today
- This follows a recess that began in March
- Ghanaians will be watching to see what business is addressed
Parliament reconvenes today, June 11th, for the second meeting of its fourth session.
This follows a recess that began in March after a controversial bill was submitted for presidential assent.
The recess came about after the Speaker of Parliament adjourned the House on March 20th.
This decision followed a response to a letter from the Presidency requesting that a bill, known as the anti-gay bill, not be sent for approval.
In May, the Majority Caucus in Parliament petitioned the Speaker for an earlier return to address important government business.
This included approval of a report by the Appointments Committee and a motion on additional funding.
With Parliament resuming session today, Ghanaians will be watching to see what business is addressed and how lawmakers proceed.
