Ghanaian forward Jordan Ayew has opened up about his prolonged stint playing out of position within the ranks of Ghana’s National Men’s Football Team.

Following his remarkable performance, securing a hat trick in Ghana’s nail-biting 4-3 victory over the Central African Republic in a crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, Ayew candidly addressed his positional challenges.

In a departure from his customary role as a wing forward, Ayew was deployed as the central attacker against CAR, a strategic shift that proved pivotal in orchestrating Ghana’s comeback from a 2-1 deficit. His stellar display not only secured victory but also garnered widespread acclaim from Black Stars head coach Otto Addo.

Reflecting on his versatile role, Ayew admitted, “To be honest, I’ve been playing out of position for quite some time in the national team…but it’s not a problem for me because I just want to play football but I’ve never complained or anything like that.” Despite the positional adjustments, Ayew’s unwavering commitment to the team’s cause shone through, culminating in a memorable hat-trick performance.

In a poignant reminder of perseverance and faith, Ayew emphasized, “God’s time is the best and in life you never have to give up you just have to be patient and keep on working and believe in yourself and things will turn out being positive.”

Ayew’s remarkable feat marks the first hat trick by a Black Stars player since 2017, underscoring his enduring impact on Ghanaian football and his ability to adapt to varying tactical demands.
