Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has announced plans to introduce a tax amnesty for Ghanaian businesses in 2025, as part of the country’s transition to a flat rate tax system.

This move aims to provide predictability and stability for importers and businesses, ending the unpredictability that has led to inflationary biases.

Dr. Bawumia made this announcement during his three-day campaign tour of the Ashanti Region, where he also pledged to:

  • Introduce alignment of import duties to simplify tax payments
  • Implement credit scoring by December 2024
  • Train one million youth in digital skills to boost job opportunities
  • Continue fighting corruption and remain accountable to Ghanaians
  • Empower chiefs through amendments to the Chieftaincy Act and financial resources

The Ashanti Mamponghene, Daasebre Osei Bonsu, thanked Dr. Bawumia for his visit and pledged the chiefs’ support for government initiatives that improve the lives of Ghanaians.
