- Keta youth accuse police of brutality and murder, demand justice
- Ultimatum issued to authorities to act within 7 days or face protests
The concerned youth of Keta, both at home and abroad, have called for justice for Jerry Kpesenu, a landlord who allegedly died in police custody due to brutality. Speaking at a press conference, Forceman Doewilliams, leader of the group, expressed their sorrow and outrage over the incident.
“We gather here today with heavy hearts to invite you, the press, to help carry our message to the whole world about the unprofessional, barbaric, and inhumane acts of some officers of the Keta Police Division, leading to the untimely death of our brother Jerry Kpesenu (a.k.a Maya) in police custody on June 6, 2024,” he said.

The group believes Jerry Kpesenu was manhandled and murdered by the police and is demanding justice without delay. They have given the Inspector General of Police (IGP), the Municipal Chief Executive for Keta, the Keta Divisional Police Command, the Volta Regional Police Command, and President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo seven days to address their grievances.
Their demands include:
- The immediate interdiction of the officers involved
- A five-member committee to investigate the circumstances surrounding Jerry Kpesenu’s death
- An independent autopsy at a highly professional pathology center in Ghana at the cost of the police
The youth have vowed to advise themselves after the given seven days if their grievances are not addressed.
