Otto Addo, coach of the Black Stars, has emphasized the necessity of maintaining focus and vigilance as Ghana prepares for a crucial World Cup qualifier against the Central African Republic (CAR).

Following Ghana’s recent victory over Mali, attention has swiftly turned to the upcoming match against CAR, scheduled for Monday evening at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Despite the morale-boosting win over Mali, many perceive CAR as a potentially weaker opponent. However, Addo remains cautious, asserting that the game will be challenging.

“It’s going to be a tough match. For those who underestimate our opponents, we hope for an easy ride, but it won’t be the case. We can’t afford to let our guard down,” Addo emphasized during a media briefing on Sunday evening.

Expressing gratitude to the passionate fans in Kumasi, Addo called for their unwavering support in this crucial fixture.

“I was truly moved by the overwhelming support we received last time we played here. Despite our performance in Afcon, they stood by us in numbers. That’s why I admire Kumasi fans. We need their support from the beginning to the end of the game,” Addo stated.

Ghana previously defeated CAR 2-1 to secure qualification for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, aiming to replicate that success in the upcoming encounter.

CAR, buoyed by their recent victory over Chad, also enters the match with confidence.

With Madagascar leading Group I and Ghana tied with Comoros on points, a victory for Ghana would propel them to the top of the group as they pursue their fifth World Cup appearance.
