An autopsy was conducted on the body of Nigerian rapper and singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad, almost a year after his death. The report from the autopsy has finally revealed the possible cause of his death.
The report went viral on the internet on Saturday and stated that while the exact cause of the singer’s death could not be ascertained, there was a possibility of drug reaction. This conclusion comes after no significant post-mortem and toxicology findings have been gathered since the death of the singer.
The autopsy was conducted at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, where the samples of the gastric content, blood, bone marrow, liver, kidney, and lung of Mohbad were retrieved for a toxicology test. The report from the autopsy stated that anti-histamines are medicines used to treat symptoms of allergies, stomach problems, colds, and anxiety, among other conditions.
The report also noted that the body was neither autopsied nor embalmed prior to interment on the second day and had to be exhumed on September 21, 2023, eight days after burial. The autopsy revealed moderate to marked decomposition of organs, with only a superficial injury on the right forearm and no significant gross finding that could be attributed to death.
Samples were taken for toxicology to determine if there was any anaphylactic reaction, substances of abuse, overdosage, or common household poisoning, and toxicology revealed positive findings of Diphenhydramine, an antihistamine.
However, the concentration was not in a fatal or lethal range, and the other analytics were unremarkable, making it impossible to determine the exact cause of death. The death of Mohbad on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27, was under mysterious circumstances, and his demise generated a lot of controversies, with his aggrieved fans and celebrities demanding justice for the late singer.
